Larry Barfield

Mr. Larry Barfield of Decatur died Tuesday, May 26, 2009. He was a native and lifelong resident of Georgia. He is survived by his wife Carol Barfield; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kathy Barfield, Steve and Dee Dee Barfield; sister and brother-in-law, Teri and Tommy Sammons; grandchildren, Alex Barfield, Ian Barfield, Rachel Barfield, Leigha Barfield, Anna Brooke Barfield, McKenna Barfield, and Sara Kate Barfield.
Jill Dahlberg - October 4th, 2011
I met Larry in 8th grade, he never changed ,so nice to everyone and just a great guy. We had jury duty together a few months before he passed away.  He was most proud of his sons, Master Sgt.(retired)David Barfield and Chaplain Capt. Steve Barfield and all his grandchildren. I enjoyed seeing him, seemed like old times at school.

BELCHER, Charles, III Charles L. Belcher III (Chuck), 66, passed way on Sept. 10. He is survived by his wife Boots, his son Kevin Yount and his daughter Kelly Yount, his two grandchildren, Arik and Jack Yount, his mother Martha Lewis, sister Linda Bender, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two children, Lyndsey and Jason Belcher, his father Charles Belcher Jr., and brother Bruce Belcher. Chuck attended Avondale High School, Furman University, and Georgia State. A memorial service is being planned at the Country Club of Roswell, 2500 Club Springs Drive, Roswell, GA 30076, on September 21 at 4:00 pm.

Bonda Gibbs, age 63 of Snellville, died Monday, January 22, 2007. Memorial Services will be held 3 PM Sunday, January 28, 2007 at White Oak Baptist Church, Lilburn, GA. Rev. Danny Odum will officiate. Mrs. Gibbs was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and retired from Stone Mountain Park. I remember Bonda as being my best friend during elementary school . We would walk home together from school,  and try to do anything but homework . Her brother Cullen would come in from High School with his tuba ,and tell us all about fast times at AHS .

Cullen Brown (58) - September 16th, 2011
Bonda married Lowell Gibbs class of 1956. She had two daughters, Betsey and Vicki. Vicki has a 14 yr old son named Brannon. Betsey has a son Tate about 3 years old. Bonda worked for a number of years at Stone Mtn. Park, the last position was in the management office. Her hobbies were Traveling with Lowell in their RV and loved going to Myrtle Beach. They enjoyed going on Cruises. She liked to fish. She died due to cancer. I do miss her very much. It is tough to lose ones baby sister.

Robert "Bob" Carswell

Mr. Robert 'Bob' Grady Carswell, age 75 of Conyers, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Betty Carswell. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Daniel Carswell, daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Joey Pietrosewicz; son, Keith Robert Carswell; grandchild, Elise Monet Carswell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky and Mike Meyer, Judith and Terry Reese; sister-in-law, Carolyn Daniel; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Tabitha Daniel; nieces and nephews, Katie and Tim Dow, Brian and Kristen McGraw, Carrie Daniel, Mary and Anthony Byrd, Rebekah Reese; numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Mr. Carswell served in the United States Air Force. He worked in the airline industry for Southern and Northwest Airlines, which later became Delta, and held a private pilot license. Bob loved computers, astrology, bowling, hiking, the outdoors and supporting his children's activities. He was very much loved by people who knew him and will be missed. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel; interment will be Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. CLEMENTS, Kenneth Kenneth Lewis Clements, age 66, of McDonough, GA died peacefully in his sleep following a long illness Sunday, September 5, 2010. He was born on October 5, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Clements was preceded in death by his mother, Jewell Browning Brewer Clements. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Mr. Clements is survived by his wife, Frankie Garmany Clements; son and daughter-in-law, John and Misty Clements, Columbus, GA; daughters, Karen Clements, Hampton, GA and Stacey Clements, Fayetteville, GA; father, Clarence Clements, Dowling Park, FL; brother and sister-in-law, David and Joyce H. Clements, McDonough, GA; and four grandchildren, Aaron, Mason, Sabriya and Zakariya. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Danny Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Highway 138, SW, Stockbridge, GA 30281. Boyce Connell

Obituary:
Mr. H. Boyce Connell Jr., health-care attorney and partner at Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy, died of cancer Monday at Northside Hospital.  He was 46.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church if Atlanta.  The body will be cremated

In addition to serving as general counsel for Northside Hospital, Mr. Connell was a past president of the Georgia Academy of Hospital Attorneys and a former executive editor of the Georgia Law Review.

Howard Boyce Connell Jr. was born Jan. 25th 1943, in Atlanta, the son of Howard B. and Ruth Connell. He was a graduate of Davidson College and the University of Georgia School of Law.

He was a member of the American Academy of Hospital Attorneys, the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta and American Bar Associations.  He served on the board of directors of the Hospice of the South and was an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Ellen Robinson Connell; a son, Howard B. Connell III of Atlanta; a daughter, Ashley Connell of Atlanta; a brother Douglas Connell of Atlanta; and two sisters, Clare Connell of Athens and Catherine C. Dykes of Durham, N.C.

Boyce was a true leader all through high school. I remember going to his house to plan our first reunion.  Since, he was our class president, he took that responsiblity seriously.  We had a great time while planning for it.

Such a gentleman and happy guy who worked hard to do his best.

Moina Shadix (Dalton)

Mrs. Moina Dalton Brown, age 65, of Covington, Ga., passed away February 22, 2008. A native of Jackson County, Ms. Brown was the daughter of Maudie Bell Dalton and the late Frank T. H. Dalton. Her husband was the late John W. Petree, Sr. Mrs. Brown was also preceded in death by two sisters: her 19-day-old twin, Montine, on Jan. 23,1943 and Dorothy Jean Singleton. Service were help Sunday Feb.24 at 2:00 pm at Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington.  Survivors include sons: Wesley Petree, John Petree, Jr. and Joseph Ashley Petree; daughter Nita Petree Amancio; brothers Clarence Thomas Dalton of Watkinsville and Telford Lee Dalton of Murphy N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and numerous of Nieces and Nephews.

I remember Moina in 8th grade at Avondale Elementary School. I had just moved to Atlanta and did not know any one. She was, so kind, and helpful to me.  I think she knew how scared I was.  She took me under her wing for a few days. I have never fogotten that.  Of course, we saw each other through the years in high school, too.

Her brother, Clarence, told me she loved to write poems, too.

Kathrine Gelbach (Davis)

Obituary:
Katherine E. Davis of Hamden died at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 from a brain tumor.

Davis was a psychotherapist in private practice in New Haven for more than two decades. A specialist in child mental health, she also treated adults of all ages and couples.

She became an early practitioner of EMDR, an evidence-based therapy for PTSD and related conditions, and later an educator and consultant to other clinicians in EMDR therapy. Her time was increasingly devoted to volunteer work as an EMDR trainer for the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program in order to expand use of this therapy in non-profit and public clinics.

In recognition of her efforts, she received the Social Worker of the Year award from the Connecticut Association of Social Workers in 2010 and the national EMDR Humanitarian Assistance program award for outstanding voluntary service in 2011. Before entering private practice, she had been clinical director of the former Hamden Mental Health Service for many years.

Educated in Georgia State University and Tulane University, she came to New Haven from Columbus, OH, in 1969 as a pediatric social worker at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was one of a small group of child specialists who drafted Connecticut's first child abuse law.

At Hamden Mental Health Service, beside general oversight of clinical services, she developed police training programs and community mental health outreach projects, including adult courses at Hamden High School. At one time she appeared weekly at midday on WNHC-TV to discuss children's mental health issues.

She leaves her husband, Robert Gelbach; daughters Rebecca Dworkin and Amy Larkin Gelbach; son Scott Dworkin; sister Deborah Methot; brother Pryor Davis; stepson Jonah Gelbach; and grandson Henry Gelbach.

Funeral Services at Temple Emanuel, 150 Derby Ave., Orange Friday morning, Sept. 14, 2012 at 11a.m. with interment services to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Derby-Milford Rd., Orange. A later Memorial Gathering will be announced in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in her honor to the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, Ct. 06518.
